Herbs Based Anti-Cellulite Cream and The Production Process

Technology Overview

Cellulite, more commonly known as orange-peel skin, is the formation of lumps and dimples in the skin. The underlying cause for cellulite is not clear. It has been attributed to the uneven distribution of accumulated fat cells that push up against fibrous connective cords in the skin, resulting in the skin dimpling. Cellulite affects 80 to 90 percent of women, primarily in the buttocks and thighs.

There have been many approaches to improve the appearance of cellulite. However, most of these treatments yield little satisfying results, especially on a long-term basis. The technology is a topical cream containing herbs such as Centella asiatica and zingiber for reducing the appearance of cellulite in women. This topical cream has been tested and proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The technology comprises the anti-cellulite material and its production process. The production involves nano-emulsion for each mixture of the individual anti-cellulite ingredients. Using nanotechnology helps to increase the effectiveness and bioactivity of these ingredient components, thereby enhancing its effects on cellulite reduction.

The technology provider is seeking collaboration opportunities with research institutes, universities, and industry players to increase product innovations in market niches within the cosmetics and beauty, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Technology Features, Specifications and Advantages

The technology comprises the use of nanosilver particles as one of the raw materials of the anti-cellulite material. The function of this nanosilver, apart from being an emulsion stabilizer, also has antibacterial properties. In addition, the raw materials used originate from selected natural organic products, thereby enhancing the image as a green skincare product.

The manufacturing process uses a nano-emulsion approach by taking into account each layer of the skin. Cellulite usually occurs in the outermost layer of the skin. Using this nano-emulsion technology to engineer the size of the nanosilver particles, the product becomes more easily absorbed in the skin layer, and is more targeted towards individuals who have cellulite. In severe cases of cellulite, the patient may experience pain. This technology also provides anti-inflammatory ingredients to reduce pain.

Various tests have been carried out to strengthen the claims of the resulting product, including anti-cellulite, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, efficacy tests. These testing have been carried out in accordance with the regulatory aspects of product activity and ethical standards.

Potential Applications

In the past five years, there were, on average, 3.16% of people with cellulitis in Indonesia from various age levels. Some of the raw materials used in this technology comprise tomato extract and mangosteen peel extract. It is known that these extracts have potent antioxidant activity. In its development, this anti-cellulite cream can also be developed as an antioxidant cream. With the addition of other raw materials and processes, it can be developed as a UV protector cream. Hence there is potential of this technology to be incorporated with existing products in the cosmetic and health, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries.
